New - Goal Tracker page

Good evening!
I’ve created a Goal Tracker page to... keep track of... my goals...
(Imagine Austin Powers saying that as though he was saying “Allow myself to introduce... myself.” )
That is where I will be keeping score on the aggressive health and fitness goals I’ve set for myself for 2009. I’m sure people will say to me “You want to lose six inches? Why? You’re not overweight!” I’ve had people tell me things along those lines before when I mentioned in the past that I’d like to shed some pounds. I think the reason for that is because compared to many, dare I say even compared to most, I am of average (or even below) weight for men my height (and proportionally for men taller and shorter). While that is well and good, that doesn’t mean that I’m in the best shape I can be.
Note also that my physical characteristic goals refer to waist size around the belly button and have nothing to do with the scale. That is because weight is not the be-all-and-end-all of health. I’d say weight is but one small indicator of healthy proportions. A healthy weight for a 6” tall man is 178 pounds, give or take 10%. But what if this person has bulked up a lot of muscle - wouldn’t he still be healthy even though he may weigh in at well over 200 pounds? Also, if you’re within the healthy range but have little muscle tone and a spare tire around the middle, then that can lead to increased health risks. That’s why I make no mention of weight in my goals.
My fitness goals are certainly ambitious to say the least, and I’ll certainly do my best to achieve them. If I make good on all of them, I’ll be ecstatic! That and I’ll have to spend some serious time at the beach shirtless...
However, even if I don’t make them all, I’ll still be happy as long as I’ve made significant progress in all of them.
As the saying goes, “Always aim for the moon; even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”.
But I’ll be trying really hard for the moon!
